Glossary & FAQs

GLOSSARY

When I started stamping, I had no idea what some of the acronyms meant that I saw being bandied around. So, I decided to put some of them here, for your reference. If I use a term that you don’t know, please email me and I’ll add it here!

CAS – Clean and Simple. We demonstrators can sometimes get carried away with the layering, embellishments, and techniques.

CASE – Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Slightly Edit. This is my basic philosophy. I am inspired by others and I hope others are inspired enough by me to CASE my work.  I do ask, if you copy a design of mine, please give me credit.

RAK – Random Act of Kindness. We like to keep the good karma around by sending unexpected, handmade cards and gifts.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1.  Why should I choose Stampin’ Up! instead of purchasing all of my supplies at a mega-craft store?

Stampin’ Up!’s products are high quality and the colors and designs of the ink, cardstock, markers, ribbons, embellishments and Designer Series Papers all coordinate perfectly. There are stamps that coordinate with our punches and Big Shot dies. And, best of all, with Stampin’ Up! you get ME — your personal creative consultant and trainer — to assist you designing your projects and using your new products!

2.  I have never stamped before. Where should I begin?

Stamping is so easy and fun! I welcome beginners at all of my events.  So, join me for one of my scheduled events OR contact me to plan an event for you and your friends! I am happy to customize the projects to suit your interests.

Here are some products to get you started:

Getting Started Collection 8 1/2" x 11" Smooth Card Stock (Item # 120954) includes 24 sheets of card stock in 12 colors: Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Pretty in Pink, Rich Razzleberry, Night of Navy, Marina Mist, Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Early Espresso and Basic Black.

Getting Started Collection Classic Stampin’ Spots (Item # 119979) includes 11 spots in the same colors listed above, except Whisper White.

The Color Coach (Item # 120148) is a quick reference tool that will help you combine colors like an expert!

Many Marvelous Markers (Item # 119806) is the full collection of Stampin’ Up!’s exclusive colors. I offer a Marker Club for those who want to own all of the markers, but can’t afford to purchase the whole set at once. At the end of the 4-month club, you will own all 38 in the basic Color Collections plus  Blush Blossom. To participate in my Marker Club, send me an email!

Choose a stamp set that you like! A good first stamp set might include a sentiment or two and some artwork. Easy Events (Item # 116958 for wood mount or 123225 for clear mount) is a good, versatile set with cute artwork and sentiments for a variety of occasions.

Choose from the wide variety of coordinating embellishments: ribbon, buttons, hardware, glitter, embossing powder, brads, and more!

Our Paper Cutter  (Item # 104152) is for cutting your cardstock to create your cards and scrapbook pages.

Our Paper Snips (Item # 103579) are great for cutting out stamped images.

Snail adhesive is double-sided, permanent adhesive and it’s great for putting your card pieces together.

3.  What are the measurements for a standard A2 card?

A standard A2 card is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" when folded, so you will cut your cardstock to either 4 1/4" x 11" or 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", depending on whether you want to have the fold on the long side or the short side.
